Welcome! This guide will help you create your account, set up your profile, and book your first pet sitter — or launch your sitter business — in just a few minutes.
For Pet Parents
1. Create Your Account
Sign up at fur-kid.com with your email or Google account. The process takes under two minutes.
2. Add Your Pets
Build a profile for each pet you need care for:
- Basic Info — Name, breed, age, weight, and photo
- Health & Diet — Medications, allergies, feeding schedule, and dietary restrictions
- Behavior — Temperament, socialization with other pets/kids, anxiety triggers
- Routine — Walk schedule, sleep habits, favorite toys, and hiding spots
- Emergency Contacts — Vet info, preferred emergency clinic, and a local backup contact
3. Search for Sitters
Enter your ZIP code and browse vetted local sitters. Filter by:
- Service type (dog walking, drop-in visits, overnight sitting, house sitting, day care)
- Availability and calendar
- Experience level and certifications
- Pet types they specialize in
- Price range
4. Schedule a Meet-and-Greet
Before booking, request a free meet-and-greet. This no-obligation introduction lets you:
- Observe how the sitter interacts with your pet
- Discuss your pet’s routine and special needs
- Ask about emergency protocols and backup plans
- Confirm logistics like keys, alarm codes, and parking
5. Book and Pay Securely
Confirm your booking through FurKid’s secure platform. You pay the sitter’s rate — FurKid adds no platform fees. You’ll receive instant confirmation and can message your sitter anytime before the stay.
For Sitters
1. Apply to Become a Sitter
Register at fur-kid.com/sitter/register. Provide:
- Your name, email, and ZIP code
- Services you offer
- Years of pet care experience
2. Pass the Background Check
FurKid requires a background check through our partner Checkr. You’ll receive an email with instructions after submitting your application. Most checks clear within 1–3 business days.
3. Build Your Profile
A complete profile builds trust and gets you booked faster:
- Professional Photo — A friendly, clear headshot
- Bio — Highlight your experience, specialties, and love for pets
- Services & Rates — Set competitive prices for each service you offer
- Availability — Keep your calendar up to date
- Photos — Share images of pets you’ve cared for (with owner permission)
4. Set Your Rates
You keep 100% of your rate — FurKid takes zero commission. Research local rates and price yourself based on your experience, services, and demand in your area.
5. Start Accepting Bookings
Once activated, your profile appears in local search results. Respond quickly to booking requests and messages to build a strong reputation and earn great reviews.
