Understanding FurKid Pricing

FurKid’s pricing is built on one simple principle: transparency. No hidden fees, no surprise charges. Here’s exactly how it works.

The Zero-Fee Model

Unlike other platforms, FurKid charges no service fees on pay-per-visit bookings. Here’s what that means:

This saves pet parents money and helps sitters win more bookings.

Pay-Per-Visit Pricing

For Pet Parents

You pay only what the sitter charges. Period.

• Dog Walking — Typically $15–$30 per walk, depending on duration and location
• Drop-In Visits — Usually $15–$25 per visit for feeding, play, and basic care
• Overnight Sitting — Generally $40–$85 per night, depending on the number of pets
• House Sitting — Similar to overnight rates, often with additional pet care included
• Day Care — Typically $25–$50 per day

Sitters set their own rates based on experience, demand, and location. You can filter search results by price range.

For Sitters

You keep your full stated rate, minus standard payment processing fees (typically 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction, charged by our payment processor — not by FurKid).

Example on a $50 booking:

• Pet parent pays: $50.00
• Payment processing fee: ~$1.75
• You receive: ~$48.25

FurKid takes nothing.

Subscription Plans (Optional)

FurKid Plus and Family are optional memberships for pet parents who book regularly.

FurKid Plus — $15/month (annual) or $19/month

• Priority booking with top-rated sitters
• Unlimited free meet-and-greets
• 24/7 FurKid support line
• GPS-tracked walk reports
• Cancel anytime

FurKid Family — $29/month (annual) or $39/month

• Everything in Plus
• 10% off every booking
• Dedicated account manager
• Same-day booking guarantee
• Multi-pet booking discounts
• Emergency backup sitter network

Is a Subscription Worth It?

If you book care more than once a month, a subscription usually pays for itself:

Cancellations and Refunds

Pet Parent Cancellations

Each sitter sets their own cancellation policy. Common structures:

• Flexible — Full refund if cancelled 24+ hours before the stay
• Moderate — 50% refund if cancelled 48+ hours before; no refund within 48 hours
• Strict — No refund if cancelled within 7 days of the stay

The sitter’s policy is displayed on their profile before you book. FurKid enforces the stated policy.

Sitter Cancellations

If a sitter cancels a confirmed booking, the pet parent receives a full refund immediately. Sitters who cancel repeatedly may be removed from the platform.

Subscription Cancellations

You can cancel Plus or Family anytime. Your membership remains active until the end of the current billing period. We do not offer prorated refunds.

Tipping

Tipping is optional but appreciated:

• Standard tip — 10–15% for good service
• Generous tip — 20% for exceptional care, last-minute availability, or extra services
• No tip expected — Sitters price their services to reflect their full rate

Tips are processed through the FurKid platform and go directly to the sitter.

Payment Processing

Security

All payments are processed through PCI-compliant payment infrastructure. FurKid never stores your full credit card number on our servers.

Payout Schedule for Sitters

Sitters choose their payout schedule:

• Instant — Available for a small fee; funds arrive within minutes
• Standard — Free; funds arrive within 2–3 business days

Failed Payments

If a pet parent’s payment fails, the booking is not confirmed. The pet parent is notified to update their payment method. Sitters are not expected to begin service until payment clears.

Taxes

For Pet Parents

Pet care expenses may be tax-deductible in certain situations (e.g., if you run a business from home and the pet care enables work). Consult a tax professional.

For Sitters

You are an independent contractor. You are responsible for:

• Reporting all income
• Paying self-employment tax
• Making quarterly estimated payments if needed
• Tracking deductible expenses

FurKid does not withhold taxes. You will receive a 1099 form if you earn above the reporting threshold.
